Sense of Space: Project ideas development
The brief for Sense of space, is to create a 3 minute audio piece, whether a real place or a made up place. As soon as i read the brief, i knew i wanted to record sound in a area i would be familiar with, whether it was a train station, work place or home. We decided on creating ideas to do with areas around Sheffield, and preferably using human interactions for a majority of our sounds.
Out of the majority of ideas we have came up with, the classroom idea was the favorite. I feel that using the classroom, it allows us to create our own story, using sounds found around every day schools, as well as creating new sounds that are likely to be heard. At first the two ideas were either a pupil entering a classroom for a lesson, or a pupil entering a room for an exam. We settled with the exam idea, as it has less speech in it, and amplify the sounds around him, enhancing his feeling of boredom and stress.
