Final Idea:
Day time exam. Banging of the lockers, a student walks to the classroom just as the bell rings. They open the door, footsteps created by all the students rushing to the exam, with the students murmuring between one another. As they sit down in their places, the crash of bags, rustling of papers and pens and the scraping of chairs along the floors are heard throughout the echoing room. Throughout the exam tapping of feet, and fidgeting of each student is heard, the ticking of the clock, and as the bell goes, a rush for the door is heard.
In the above spider diagram, i have put together a range of sounds that we can incorporate into our project. We knew we wanted to include many human interactions, as Sheffield is a bustling city. We wanted to include many sounds created by humans but also some ambiguous ones to entice the audience and make them think.
For this reason, we decided to use a school environment as our location. Our story is a pupil entering a classroom, where he mundanely sits at his desk and sits a test. We are planning on amplifying the sounds around him to enhance his feeling of boredom, stress and anxiety. Below is a brief list of some of the shots we plan on using out of all the ideas in our sense of space production:
• Slow ticking clock
• Biting into an apple
• Chewing gum
• Books slamming on tables
• Opening of tables
• Swinging on hinges of chair
• The wind outside the window
• Hum of chatter in the background
• Pen writing fast on paper
• tapping of foot
• Opening and closing of doors
• Footsteps echoing down the hallway
• Bashing of lockers
• Clanging of change in someone's pocket
• Phone vibrating
• Coughing, sneezing, yawning
• Drinking from water bottle
